Inventory Allocation for Picking Orders

Note: In order to have access to this feature, the role of the logged-in user must contain the Inventory Allocation feature and inventory allocation must be turned on for the default division of the logged-in user.

Inventory allocation is a picking order feature available in IntelliTrack Inventory.

Using Inventory Allocation

This option is set for picking orders at the division level; see "Division Orders Options" for more information.

To set inventory allocation for a division, follow these steps:

  1. Select Manage > Company from the navigation pane. The Manage Company page appears.
  2. In the tree-view list, select your division and press the Edit button found at the top of the page.
  3. The Edit Division form appears for your division. Select the Orders tab.
  4. In the Picking Orders section of this tab, you will find two options for inventory allocation: Allocate Inventory and Allocate Inventory for all Orders.
  5. Mark the Allocate Inventory checkbox to allocate inventory for the division. This will enable the Allocate Inventory checkbox at the Picking Orders page when the page is in Add mode (when adding an order).
  6. The Allocate Inventory for all Orders checkbox is enabled if the Allocate Inventory checkbox is marked. Mark the Allocate Inventory for all Orders checkbox to automatically allocate inventory for all picking orders.
  7. When inventory allocation is used for a picking order, ALL line items in the order are allocated. This means that for each line item in the order, the eligible inventory quantity is calculated for all site-locations in the default division of the logged-in user.
    1. If sufficient existing inventory exists in the division to completely allocate the quantity needed by the item, the ordered quantity is updated.
    2. If the existing inventory quantity is insufficient to fulfill the item, the user is warned that there is insufficient quantity to fulfill the item; the maximum amount that can be allocated for this order is displayed.

Item Allocation Override History Transactions

The picking allocation feature has two history transactions that are written to the history log:
